Sit with me & a cup of tea
Closing a decade on this planet, taking a moment to sit with my community.
Returning from an unforgettable journey with my father, our first international trip together to Germany, and teaching my first-ever yoga retreat in South France with Abigail Carter and Nancy Orlikow, it's taken a moment to settle back into life here in Seattle. Travel is my favorite; it shakes me in my boots, it reminds me what makes me comfortable & uncomfortable. It reminds me that I can change & that change is a constant I can count on in this life.
While traveling, I spent my downtime reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza and it’s changed the way I meditate. I've been spending substantial time each morning in meditation, becoming more aware of my human experience, noticing my internal chatter, and the emotions demanding attention. I’ve been sitting with myself as an act of integration from my expansive traveling experience.
The darkness and cold of Seattle are setting in, and I find myself longing for my community's support and warmth. I recently discovered a new studio in the alleyways of Chinatown here in Seattle - Mother Yoga. It's a close-knit and warm community that welcomed me with open arms. They've just celebrated their 2-year anniversary, and I'm thrilled to have found this space for my practice. As both a student and teacher of yoga, I understand the challenge of motivating oneself to practice, especially in the colder seasons.
After teaching the retreat in France, I felt a spark reignite within me. For the first time, I got to witness the magic of teaching yoga to the same group for seven straight days. I heard feedback about their changing bodies and feelings, saw their hearts open, and creativity flourish. It reminded me of why I practice yoga, why I roll out my mat, and why community is so essential. Coming back to Seattle, I craved that same connection.
Finding a studio in Seattle that felt like home has been tough, but Mother Yoga finally feels just right. As a Sagittarius approaching my 30th birthday, I'm dreaming up ways to celebrate the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new decade. I'm excited to announce my first-ever public tea ceremony at Mother Yoga Studio. I’ve been sitting for tea meditation since the beginning of the pandemic & I look forward to sharing this practice with you.
Mark your calendars for December 16th a day before my 30th birthday, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM come sit with me & enjoy a meditative experience.
There's a $40 entry fee (payable via Venmo @haleyraemoves).
This workshop will feature a tea meditation ceremony, where participants are invited to bring a personal item to contribute to our community altar, symbolizing our collective journey into this new season. The session will also include a journaling activity, allowing us to reflect on our aspirations for the winter solstice. Participants are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and pencils to artistically capture the essence of our shared still-life altar.
Join me in this workshop to kindle the inner flame, nurture your soul, and connect with a supportive community during these contemplative times.
A reminder to care for yourself as we move into the holiday season.
